China to boost staple commodity consumption to tap into consumption potential of rural areas

Twelve departments of Chinese government including Ministry of Commerce jointly release a notice on measures to boost staple commodity consumption and key consumption to unleash the consumption potential of rural areas on January 5 2021. The notice highlights the promotion of consumption on home appliances, furniture and home decoration. It calls for the vitalization of home appliance and furniture market, encourages areas where conditions permit to offer subsidies for consumers replacing existing home appliances and furniture for green, smart home appliances and environmentally-friendly furniture.
