National standard Minimum allowable values of energy efficiency and energy efficiency grades for electric pressure cookers, numbered GB 39177-2020, has been released on July 23 2020 and will take effect starting August 1 2021.

The standard specifies energy efficiency grades, minimum allowable values and testing methods. It grades electric pressure cookers on a scale of 1-3, with grade 1 indicating the highest energy efficiency level. It is learned that the drafting committee has made a survey in 2019 and found that 12% of the products on the market did not live up to the standard and only 1% reached grade 1 level.
