An implementation plan aimed at optimizing supply, promoting the steady growth of consumption and cultivating strong domestic market was jointly released by ten government bodies of China including National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Civil Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, National Health Commission and State Administration for Market Regulation on January 28, 2019.
According to the plan, local governments are allowed to offer appropriate subsidies based on local circumstances to consumers purchasing green home appliances and smart appliances, and to consumers trading in used appliances that include refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, TVs, hoods, water heaters, cooktops and computers, for a discount in buying new appliances.
