On May 28, 2026, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) officially released the Compliance Management Catalog for the Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Products (2026 Edition) (hereinafter the “new Compliance Management Catalog”) and the Exemption List for Restricted Substance Applications in the Compliance Management Catalog (2026 Edition) (hereinafter the “Exemption List”). The updated regulations further expand the scope of hazardous substance control in electrical and electronic products and strengthen regulatory oversight.

The revision marks the first major expansion and optimization of China’s RoHS framework since the initial inclusion of 12 product categories in 2018. It signals a new stage in the green and high-quality development of China’s electrical and electronic industry, with full-chain hazardous substance management now extended to 33 categories of consumer products frequently used in daily life.
