Health is a fundamental need and a key element for consumers in building a better life. Home appliances with health-related functions have quickly become a vital carrier of these consumer demands, securing a significant position in the home appliance market and emerging as one of the key trends in product development.
At the “2025 National Home Appliance Consumption Season” launch on March 22, the White Paper on China’s 2025 Home Appliance Consumption Trends, compiled by the China Household Electrical Appliances Association (CHEAA), was officially released. The concept of “health-oriented” home appliances is highlighted in the white paper as a transformative trend in consumer behavior.
At the “2025 National Home Appliance Consumption Season” launched on March 22, the 2025 China Home Appliance Consumption Trend White Paper (hereinafter referred to as the “White Paper”), organized and compiled by the China Household Electrical Appliances Association, was officially released. The concept of “health-oriented” home appliances is highlighted in the white paper as a transformative trend in consumer behavior.
A Full Lineup of Diversified and Specialized Health Appliances
Today, home appliances are no longer merely tools for meeting basic needs—they are becoming essential to achieving a healthier lifestyle. In a survey on health-focused home appliances conducted by China Appliance magazine, nearly 70% of respondents agreed that “households need appliances with health features and attributes,” while only 1.6% felt such features were unnecessary, showing a growing consumer interest in health-focused appliances in China.
Driven by this demand, health-function appliances have become mainstream, with a broad range of products emerging across categories. Market bestsellers and innovations showcased at AWE 2025 both demonstrate that health features have become a “standard” feature in many categories of innovative products.
In addition, the White Paper points out that beyond the overall growth in demand, health-related needs in Chinese households are becoming increasingly diverse. As consumers' health requirements continue to become more specific, health-related appliance functions will also trend toward diversification and specialization—focusing more precisely on the unique health requirements of different demographic groups.
All-Scenario Healthy Living
Consumer expectations for health-related appliances have expanded from single products to holistic scenarios. Instead of just using appliances with health functions, consumers are now seeking to create entire health-focused environments within their homes. The concept of "health as a lifestyle scenario" is rapidly gaining ground in the market.
To meet this demand, companies have made notable breakthroughs in health-focused technology—moving from fragmented and isolated innovations to integrated, scenario-based solutions. Thanks to ongoing technological progress, health-focused scenarios are now being realized in areas such as healthy air, hygienic laundry care, clean water, healthy cooking, home cleanliness, and personal wellness.
For example, as awareness of indoor air quality increases, the healthy air scenario now encompasses temperature, humidity, cleanliness, and comfort—with air conditioners becoming central to managing these factors. In laundry care, the trend is moving toward integrated “wash + dry + care” systems to support full-cycle garment hygiene. The healthy kitchen, seen as having huge potential for wellness management, can be broken down into storage, cooking, environmental, and cleaning sub-scenarios. In home cleaning, traditional cleaning methods have evolved from “vacuum cleaner + manual labor” into comprehensive systems including “cordless handheld vacuums (for tight spots), floor washers (for mopping), robotic vacuums (for automated floor cleaning), and mite removal devices (for beds and sofas).”
AI-Enabled Household Health Management
As health appliances evolve from single products to integrated lifestyle scenarios, consumer expectations are also rising—to the level of systems. The future lies in building intelligent, personalized health management ecosystems within the home. Health appliances will increasingly align with the development of smart home ecosystems to deliver greater value to users.
At AWE 2025, the deep integration of health concept and home appliances was showcased through a range of innovations. Health-oriented products are no longer confined to niche categories—they are becoming interconnected, customizable hubs that support multi-scenario applications. This shift represents a broader collaboration across the home appliance value chain, turning health into a comprehensive solution through cross-industry innovation.
With the help of AI and intelligent control technologies, the transition from single-product health solutions to full-fledged home health management has advanced significantly. In AI-powered smart homes, the incorporation of health concepts, functions, and convenient management methods is giving rise to new lifestyle models. As the AI-driven “household health management” system takes shape, consumers will see their personalized needs better met. They will be able to customize appliances with specific health functions according to their individual preferences and requirements. At the same time, companies can leverage big data and AI to understand users' health needs and habits—offering more accurate and tailored solutions to enhance the consumer experience.
