May 14 -- E-commerce giant JD.Com is deepening its partnership with TikTok’s Chinese version Douyin by opening a store on the video-sharing and social networking platform.

Douyin users will no longer need to click any links to go to a JD.Com page and can use JD.Com’s logistics, warehousing and after-sales services, tech media outlet 36Kr reported today.

Beijing-based JD.Com must achieve CNY20 billion (USD3.1 billion) in gross merchandise volume on Douyin, according to an agreement between the two. The figure is higher than the amounts for similar deals Douyin has with Suning.Com and Gome Electric Appliance. The Suning figure is between CNY6 billion and CNY7 billion.

JD Retail’s Chief Executive Xu Lei is in charge of the partnership with Douyin, the report said. JD.Com and Douyin operator ByteDance Technology did not offer any further details.

JD.Com will oversee the store’s marketing and sales activities including livestreaming sales, and it will be responsible for logistics, warehousing and delivery. JD.Com has a Douyin account, but so far has only used it for marketing activities.

JD.Com has also concluded a strategic cooperation deal with Douyin rival Kuaishou to assist its e-commerce business, Kuaishou Xiaodian. JD.Com will provide goods for Kuaishou live streamers to select and sell, 36Kr said, adding that live streamers and brand owners will be able to negotiate commissions and shares of income.
