(Yicai Global) May 24 -- Ele.me and Suning.Com have agreed a partnership by which Suning will become the first large retailer in the computer, communication, and consumer products field to include its stores on the Alibaba-backed takeout platform.
The first group of 600 Suning stores in 150 Chinese cities have landed on Ele.me, Nanjing-based Suning announced yesterday. The more than 3,000 products available, including mobiles, personal computers, and household appliances, can be delivered to customers in as little as 30 minutes, it noted.
To publicize the partnership, Suning is offering promotions until May 28, including free delivery, discounts of up to CNY1,000 (USD142) on smartphones, PCs, and digital products, and small home appliances for just CNY1 (14 US cents), as well as other special hot-sales, ahead of the 618 Shopping Gala, which runs from today to June 20.
Suning and Ele.me plan to deepen their cooperation by raising the number of Suning stores on the platform to 1,000 by the end of the year and exploring a new service model for on-demand deliveries of big home appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines.
