Zhoucun, a district of Zibo city of Shandong province, is granted the title of China’s Industrial Base of Electric Cookers by China’s Light Industry Council and China Household Electric Appliances Association on July 31th 2018.
As a competitive industry of Shandong province, electric cooker industry has developed for 30 years since the 1990s, and has formed a cluster that gathers more than 500 electric cooker makers and suppliers in Zhoucun district and its surrounding areas. Covering products including electric cookers, electric baking pans and water boilers, this largest cooker production base of China posts sales value of more than 5 billion RMB and volume of more than 50 million units each year, accounting for 98% of the whole industry by volume. As of the end of 2016, enterprises at Zhoucun district registered combined assets of more than 3 billion RMB, employing more than 60,000 people.
At the awarding ceremony, Xu Dongsheng, Vice President of China Household Electrical Appliances Association, says, electric cookers are developed to meet the needs of Chinese consumers, and it cannot be done without the exploration, practices and studies of Chinese home appliance industry players, particularly Zhoucun-based ones. After years of evolvement, Zhoucun makes cooker industry one of its advantages. This awarded title is not only a recognition of what Zhoucun has achieved in the past, but also represents an expectation for its future. He hopes that, Zhoucun will forge ahead and improve, making more contributions to the China’s home appliance industry.
