Work Conference of the Technical Committee under China Household Electrical Appliances Association (CHEAA) was convened in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province on May 24, 2017. Hosted by CHEAA and co-organized by BSH Home Appliances Holding (China) Co., Ltd., this meeting brought together approximately 50 attendees from 30 leading home appliance enterprises including Highly, BSH, Midea, Haier, etc., to explore opportunities and challenges brought by the coming era of 5G-based IoT.
Jiang Feng, President of CHEAA, pointed out in her concluding remarks that, home appliance enterprises must deploy their strategies in advance before the arrival of 5G era, and prepare useful applications and services for it through the best use of big data.
She said, CHEAA’s Technical Committee had long been devoted to smart appliance sector. Though this sector is cooling down with little breakthroughs made in products, we must remain our faith in smart appliances as the future of this industry, and strengthen industrywide communications to avoid detours.
She stressed that, “If we fail to take the lead in this sector, we may end up as the OEMs of smart appliances, just like China’s bicycle enterprises, who have now become the suppliers of bike-sharing companies such as Mobike and Ofo.”
