JD.com reported first-half revenue of 662.095 billion yuan and operating profit of 8.354 billion yuan, according to its second-quarter and interim results released on August 13. Second-quarter revenue fell 2.9% year on year to 346.4 billion yuan, while operating profit reached 4.5 billion yuan, compared with an operating loss of 900 million yuan a year earlier.
Revenue from electronics and home appliances fell 10.3% year on year to 290.057 billion yuan in the first half. Second-quarter revenue in the segment declined 11.8% to 157.886 billion yuan.
JD.com said the development of AI is creating new consumer opportunities. Its JoyInside brand, powered by the company’s JoyAI large language model, provides AI-powered interaction for products including AI toys, robots, smart home appliances and medical devices. As of this year’s 618 shopping festival, JoyInside had partnered with nearly 200 brands.
