On June 10, Midea Group and Alibaba Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement to leverage their respective core strengths and jointly explore next-generation business models centered on “whole-home intelligence + AI large models + commercial ecosystems.” The partnership aims to create new business value while focusing on breakthroughs in AIDC liquid-cooling temperature control technologies to build a green computing infrastructure for the AI era.
Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly develop whole-home smart capabilities, with cooperation spanning household AI brains, interoperability between IoT and lifestyle service ecosystems, and the development of blockbuster smart hardware products. Powered by the Qwen large language model and application, the collaboration will combine instant retail, local lifestyle services, smart mobility, and other diversified service scenarios. In the future, homes will no longer function merely as “obedient” tools. Instead, they will be capable of anticipating user needs and proactively providing services, enabling a transition from “human-driven devices” to “intent-driven spaces.”
In the computing platform sector, Midea and Alibaba Cloud will collaborate on innovations in high-performance computing and strengthen cooperation on AI Tokens to support the training and optimization of Midea’s whole-home AI brain, embodied intelligence systems, and industry-specific vertical models. The two parties will also jointly establish cloud infrastructure networks covering both domestic and overseas markets, while advancing cloud resource deployment in key regions across Europe and the Asia-Pacific.
At the same time, the companies will deepen their strategic collaboration in the AIDC sector by enhancing joint research and development between Midea Building Technologies and Alibaba Cloud on data center temperature control solutions. By integrating thermal management with computing power output and extending cooperation to the supply of core components such as compressors, Midea aims to strengthen the entire ecosystem from the underlying infrastructure layer, laying a solid physical foundation for the AI era.
