On December 25, 2025, JD Logistics announced the launch of its first overseas “Zhilang” smart warehouse in the UK, enabling same-day delivery for JD’s European online retail platform, Joybuy, to UK consumers.
The UK Zhilang warehouse is part of JD Logistics’ broader overseas smart-warehouse network. Covering more than 3,000 square metres, it operates nearly 200 Zhilang robots, boosting picking and outbound efficiency by about fourfold. Storage capacity has also been increased through taller and denser shelving.
Compared with traditional warehouses, the Zhilang system adopts a “goods-to-person” model. Ladder-climbing robots retrieve items from shelves, while mobile robots deliver them to operators. After training, a single operator can handle up to 30 order bins simultaneously and pick more than 300 items per hour.
JD.com is accelerating its international expansion through its European online retail platform, Joybuy, which is currently in trial operation in the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Selected cities benefit from same-day or next-day delivery, providing European consumers with fast, reliable logistics, a wide product selection, competitive prices, and attentive service.
