AWE Award 2020 kicks off online on April 16 2020 amid the pandemic, honoring 91 individual products and 4 packages. This is the first time the award ceremony has been hosted online since its founding.
With AWE 2020 postponed to combine with AWE2021 due to coronavirus, AWE organization committee decides to keep AWE Award and live stream it. By honoring excellent products, AWE hopes to advance the market recovery, production resumption and consumption upgrade amid the challenging situation of Q1.
The panel of experts selected 230 pieces of products (or packages) out of 517 for the second round of review before Spring Festival. After serious deliberation, AWE organization committee decides to select only “excellent product” award this year rather than the traditional “6+1” awards due to multiple reasons including the coronavirus outbreak. Plus, all the products that enters the preliminary round of review are allowed to apply for AWE Award next year whether awarded or not this year.
It is learned that, the major evaluation standard of this year’s AWE Award is to select products with high attention, products that help prevent and control the outbreak, and products that improve life quality. The award maintains its high-level and technology element while considers the demands of different demographics.
Liu Cheng, head of AWE’s Organization Committee, points out that, awards with public credibility are needed by home appliance makers as well as consumers to guide consumption amid the outbreak. On one hand, consumers show increased interests into healthcare and disinfection appliances amid the outbreak, which drives up the search engine traffic and sales volume of them significantly. On the other hand, home appliance makers have an urgent desire to introduce good products to consumers to help them tackle the pandemic as well as improve life quality. “We believe that, the 95 pieces of excellent products (or packages) will be a helper for consumers who are in pursuit of a healthy and beautiful life. We hope that, AWE awards of this year will provide a boost for the consumption upgrade of the industry as well as the restorative growth of the industry.” Liu Cheng says.
